Ingredients
For the Cruffins:
-
1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough sheet or puff pastry
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
-
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
-
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
-
½ tsp salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
For the Garlic Butter Topping:
-
1 tbsp butter, melted
-
1 clove garlic, grated
-
1 tsp parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Grease a muffin tin with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2: Roll Out the Dough
3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the crescent dough sheet into a rectangle, roughly 12×8 inches.
4. If using puff pastry, roll it out slightly thinner to help with layering.
Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Filling
5. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and parsley.
6. Spread the garlic butter evenly over the dough from edge to edge.
Step 4: Add the Cheese
7. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan evenly over the buttered dough.
Step 5: Roll and Slice
8. Starting from the longer side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
9. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the log in half lengthwise, exposing the cheesy layers.
10. With the cut sides facing out, roll each half into a spiral, tucking the end underneath.
Step 6: Bake the Cruffins
11. Place each rolled piece into a muffin cup, cut side facing up.
12. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly crisp on top.
Step 7: Brush with Garlic Butter
13. Mix melted butter, grated garlic, and parsley for the topping.
14. As soon as the cruffins come out of the oven, brush generously with the garlic butter.
Step 8: Cool & Serve
15. Let the cruffins rest in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
16. Serve warm for maximum cheesy, garlicky goodness.
Notes
Use Seamless Dough – Crescent roll sheets work best. If using perforated dough, pinch the seams closed.
Roll Tightly – This helps create those signature spiral layers.
Don’t Overstuff – Too much cheese can leak during baking, so spread it evenly but not too thick.
Keep the Cut Side Out – This creates that beautiful swirl effect.
Add Herbs – Try fresh basil, chives, or oregano for more depth.
