Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas (the riper, the better)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined. Add the mashed bananas and mix until smooth.
Step 2: Add the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
Step 3: Add the Chocolate Chips
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 4: Scoop and Bake
- Drop spoonfuls of dough (about 1 tablespoon each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the center is set. The cookies will firm up as they cool.
Step 5: Cool and Enjoy!
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ripe Bananas: Make sure your bananas are very ripe; the riper they are, the sweeter and more flavorful your cookies will be.
- Do Not Overmix: Mix the dry ingredients into the wet just until combined to avoid tough cookies.
- Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet cookie, reduce the amount of sugar slightly.
