Ingredients
For the Fried Ravioli:
- 1 package frozen cheese ravioli (about 25–30 pieces)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper (to taste)
For the Marinara Dipping Sauce:
- 1 jar marinara sauce (about 16 oz)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Marinara Dipping Sauce
- In a small saucepan, pour in the marinara sauce and heat it over medium heat.
- Stir in the garlic powder, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Let the sauce simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s heated through and the flavors meld together. Set aside to keep warm.
Step 2: Prepare the Breading Station
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls.
- In the first bowl, place the flour and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In the second bowl, whisk the eggs.
- In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
Step 3: Bread the Ravioli
- Take the frozen cheese ravioli and dip each piece first into the flour, coating it evenly.
- Next, dip it into the egg, making sure it’s fully coated.
- Finally, dredge the ravioli in the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coat.
- Repeat for all the ravioli.
Step 4: Fry the Ravioli
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat or in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add the breaded ravioli into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
- Fry the ravioli for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the ravioli from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
- Arrange the fried ravioli on a serving platter.
- Serve with the warm marinara dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy your crispy, cheesy, and irresistible appetizer!
Notes
Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Fry the ravioli in batches to ensure even cooking and crispy results.
Use Frozen Ravioli – Frozen ravioli holds up better in the frying process and prevents overcooking.
Double Breading – For an extra crispy coating, you can double-dip the ravioli in the egg and breadcrumbs.
Keep the Oil Hot – Make sure the oil stays at a consistent temperature for the crispiest results.
